OneSearch: The Library Discovery Tool

This guide is here to help the Cal State LA campus become more familiar with the library discover tool and how it works.

What is OneSearch?

OneSearch is the Cal State LA Library's search and discovery tool you can use to find resources available in the library and across all CSUs. You can use OneSearch to search across many of the library databases for articles, books, videos, and other resources and catalogs for books and videos at the rest of 22 other CSUs.  It contains over 1 billion items including close to 30 million books from across all 23 CSU campuses.

It is a great tool to use when you are exploring a topic or have an exact title of an item in mind.

It is designed to be used by desktop and laptop computers, and mobile devices.

It has a built-in CSU+ Resource Sharing feature to allow you to receive the items that we don't have at the Cal State LA Library.

What Can You Find in OneSearch?

When searching OneSearch, there are many different resource types you can find, including but not limited to below:

  • Print books, eBooks, eBook chapters
  • Journal Articles (via Subscription and Open Access) including over 90% of articles in EBSCO databases
  • Newspaper Articles
