OneSearch: The Library Discovery Tool

This guide is here to help the Cal State LA campus become more familiar with the library discover tool and how it works.

Searching for Course Reserves

The Reserves search scope can be found in OneSearch interface, not the OneSearch box we embedded on the Library homepage.

  1. Go to OneSearch interface (You can click the Advances Search from the homepage, and then Simple Search to get there)
  2. Choose your Initial Search Scope. Your best bet is to start with the Course Reserves option. If you don't find what you need after searching, you can also try the Cal State LA Collections option.
  3. Type in your course number (i.e., CHEM 4310, this is the recommend search), your professor's name, or the name of the textbook. Hit the magnifying glass then to search.
  4. Use the Refine my Results box on the left-hand side to filter your search. The best filters to use are generally Course Name and Course Instructor.
