Who is eligible to apply for the S.C.O.R.E. Fund?

Current Cal State LA tenure-track, tenured faculty members, and lecturers are eligible to receive funds.

Is a faculty member eligible to apply as part of a team for the SCORE Departmental Collaboration Recognition Award if they have already received a SCORE Faculty Stipend in the past?

Yes, faculty members who have previously participated in the SCORE Faculty Stipend program are eligible to participate in the Departmental Collaboration Recognition Award. Faculty members may participate in both programs for different courses, but only once per program.

Is a faculty member eligible to apply for the SCORE program for a course for which they have already moved to adopt zero-cost course materials, but never received a SCORE Faculty Stipend for that work?

We aim to encourage more faculty to adopt the OER options, with or without participation in the SCORE stipend programs. Only courses being converted to zero-cost or those offered as zero-cost for the first time are eligible for this program.

Why do I need to enable Canvas Reading List?

We realize that not all the information is available as Open Educational Resources. You can use an e-textbook or e-book, or other e-resources available from the University Library. You are required to enable the Canvas Reading List in your Canvas Course page to provide seamless access to electronic course materials.

How can I provide access to e-textbooks?

Please work with your Liaison Librarian to explore if the University Library can provide institutional access to the e-textbooks or other e-resources.

What happens if institutional access is not available for my textbook?

We encourage you to use relevant Open Educational Resources to replace your textbook.

What type of Canvas Reading List screenshot do I need to submit?

Please submit a screenshot as below. You can get a screenshot once you enable your Canvas Reading List.

How long the S.C.O.R.E. Faculty Fund will be available?

Depending on the availability of funding, we plan on offering the S.C.O.R.E. Faculty Fund in Fall 2025.
