Affordable Learning Solutions & OER for Faculty @ Cal State LA

In response to continued remote instruction and learning, the University Library has launched trial access to BibliU, an e-textbook platform. Students enrolled in some Cal State LA courses can access their textbooks electronically for free.

Textbooks used for some courses not available in the University Library electronically were identified on the BibliU platform.  While not all textbooks used by our students are available on BibliU, we hope that this temporary service will help many students access their much-needed textbooks free of charge.

To access BibliU e-textbooks for your courses:

  • Go to the BibliU platform ( and search for the title of your textbook
  • Click on the book in the search result and enter your MyCalStateLA user ID and password when prompted to access

If you link to a title directly from your Reading List within your Canvas course, your student will be prompted to a university/institution selection box.  Once they have selected California State University, Los Angeles, they will be sent to the campus network login page where they should enter their MyCalStateLA ID and password.

Students will be able to borrow e-textbooks from BibliU while funding is available. Once a student borrows a BibliU e-textbook, they may use it as many times as needed up to the end of the Spring or fall 2022 semester, at which time access to the title ends.

We strongly encourage you to embed the available titles on BibliU in your Canvas Reading List and notify your students about this service.
