BIOL 3200: Writing for Biologists

This guide is here to support students in the Writing for Biologists Course.

Where do I start?

Sometimes it can be hard to know where to start, especially if you are unfamiliar with a topic. A great place to start while looking for background information is in an encyclopedia. The databases listed below include encyclopedias and other books that can be used to find background information on your topic.

Electronic Reference Sources

Online encyclopedias are a good starting point for research. Look for keywords that can you help search strategically later. Prefer print? We have many print reference resources in the library. Try searching OneSearch to locate one on your topic.
