BASIC SEARCH PROCESS

 1. Plan Search

  • Refine your topic
  • Select keywords to represent concepts
  • Construct strategy (use boolean operators and truncation tools)
  • Choose database(s)

2. Perform Search

3. Review Results

4. Change Strategy if Necessary & Search Again

  • Double-check typing
  • Try other key/concept words (more broad; more specific; related terms)
  • Try another database    

 

A Timeline of Information

A Timeline of Information: After an event, TV/Radio and Web will cover it in real time. Newspapers appear one day later. In the following days and weeks magazines will cover it. In months, journals will have articles on it. From months to years we will see more journals, books, government publications covering the event.
