Cal State LA is facing many budget challenges due to reduced funding from the state and decreasing student enrollment. For more information about the campus budget, please visit the Cal State LA Financial Transparency website.
As part of Cal State LA’s plan to address the $32.4 million campus budget deficit for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, the University Library had a 12.4 percent reduction to our general fund allocation. As a result of this budget reduction, our collections budget was reduced from $1.77 million to 1.365 million in the fiscal year 2024-2025.
Looking ahead, the Library’s General Fund budget will be reduced by an additional 10% in the fiscal year 2025/2026. To address this, the Library's collections budget will be further reduced. Rising renewal costs for scholarly content will further compound these challenges.
