Preserving LA’s Hidden Musical Histories

Location

Cal State LA is located in the eastern region of Los Angeles, in the University Hills district. The campus faces the San Gabriel Mountains, and is just five miles east of Downtown Los Angeles, where the 10 and 710 meet.

Each day of the Sounds of the Underground event takes place in a different part of campus.

Day 1 - Screening + Keynote/Q&A takes place in the University-Student Union Theatre.

Day 2 - Research Symposium takes place in the University Library Community Room (Library North B131) and the Special Collections Reading Room (Library South 2079).

Day 3 - Music Festival & Community Archiving Day takes place in the University-Student Union Plaza.

Parking

Parking on campus is not free. We recommend that you park in Structure C, located on the west side of campus. Visitors can park on the top level of structure C and pay for a permit.

If the top level of Structure C is full, we recommend parking in Structure E just north of Structure C, which is also on our downloadable map.
