HNRS 1200: Reading Los Angeles: Expressive Cultures in a Global City

News / Magazine Articles

News / magazine articles may document and help you contextualize events that occurred. They are written for the general public and are often called "popular sources".

News articles may include:

  • Original reporting of events: To report on events
  • Editorials: To give opinions on current issues and events, written by the editorial board.
  • Op-Eds: To discuss and provide arguments on issues of relevance to the readers of the newspaper, written by named authors not associated with the newspaper's editorial board.

Academic Search Complete: A Great Place to Find News Articles

Why do articles look different?

The Library has subscriptions to dozens of newspapers, which gives you access to sources including New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and LA Times.

Articles may appear differently than news you access through commercial websites. The content is the same.
