Search Strategies for Articles

From the Library Home Page > select Articles > Select POLITICAL SCIENCE as subject from "Choose Databases by SUBJECT" menu > click "Get Database List". This will lead to the Subject Databases page for POLITICAL SCIENCE.

Start with Academic Search Premier or  PAIS International databases, as well as other databases to research your question.

Select the Advanced Search feature. Remember, database interfaces might look different from each other, but they have many of the same features (e.g. Advanced Search, Subject Headings, Full-text, Save, Print, Email, Cite, Export, etc.)

Starting a search:   

  • Enter keywords that describes your topic. Remember to connect keywords with "AND". 
  • Look at your results to see if any of your hits look useful/relevant to what you need.
  • Click on one hit that looks useful/relevant.
  • Look at the subject headings that describe the article.
  • Click on one of the subject headings to get a list of more articles on that subject.
