The New York Times - Digital Edition

New York Times Cooking, Games and The Athletic are complimentary access for Cal State LA students, faculty, staff and administrators for one year from the time of your activation of these sections.   Please note that a decision to continue with paid subscriptions to these sections will be evaluated based on usage and available funding. 

You need to first have an NYT account.  See the Getting Started page on the left  for information on creating an NYT account. You must use your Cal State LA email address to take advantage of access to these complimentary resources. 

Once you have a registered NYT account, you will be provided a redemption code when you access each section for the first time using the links below.  After your first time access, you should be able to access the sections normally by logging in using your Cal State LA email and the password.

1. Activate your Cooking access by using this Activation Link.  An access code will be pre-populated for an easy redemption experience, so you simply need to click the Redeem button.
2. If you have previously created a New York Times account with your Cal State LA email address, log in with those credentials. If not, click Create Account and use your Cal State LA email address when creating. Do NOT choose the buttons for Apple, Google, or any other site.
3. If your information has been entered correctly, you will see a confirmation screen and can then access Cooking from the direct URL, found here.

1. Activate your access to The Athletic by using this Activation Link. Unlike for Cooking and Games, you are brought directly to a Create Account screen.
2. If you have previously created a New York Times account with your Cal State LA email address, click Log In and you will be brought to the same login screen as for Cooking and Games. Log in with those credentials. If not, click Sign Up with Email and use your Cal State LA email address when creating. Do NOT choose the buttons for Apple, Google, or any other site.
3. If your information has been entered correctly, you will see a confirmation screen and can then access The Athletic from the direct URL, found here.
