About Chicanx Latinx Heritage Month

The Chicanx Latinx Heritage Month or National Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the contributions of Latinx Americans and the richness of the cultural history of those with ancestries typically from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. The period encompasses the dates on which several countries in the South and central America celebrate their respective Independence days.

Visit the National Hispanic Heritage Month website for a list of events and resources provided by The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

You can browse print and e-books at home with our Latinx Chicanx Heritage Month digital display.

If you see a book you want to read but aren't on campus to pick it up right away, you can request it be held for pick-up with these easy steps.

  1. Go to OneSearch and search for the book.
  2. Sign in with your Cal State LA ID and password
  3. Click on "Request the library's copy!" OneSearch book result page for Don't Try this at home! with an arrow pointing toward the Request the library's copy button.
  4. Select your pickup location and add your preferred email address.
  5. Pick up your book within the next 24 hours and enjoy!
